Modern furniture is characterized by several important features. It can be elegantly simple and minimalistic, and, used in design of your rooms it emphasizes not the status of their inhabitants, but the whole atmospheric look of the modern style. It can be made of wood and leather, too, but often manufacturers use more, say, hi-tech materials: chromed or polished steel and other special alloys, glass and plastic. One of the main peculiarities of this hi-tech style is combination of incongruous, at first glance, substances. Yet, it all results in surprisingly attractive forms; everyone may find a thing to their liking which is able to give a hint of colour and fantasy to even the most minimalistic room design: bright zebra-coloured armchairs, almost invisible transformer tables made of glass and steel, fancy shaped wooden chairs and so on. Yet, in spite of such minimalistic forms which seem to suggest no comfort, this modern furniture provides everything one may need: modern orthopaedic mattresses, newest filling materials and upholstery tissues, scratch-proof surfaces.

However, I must admit, in such interior, inhabitants feel, first of all, spaciousness of the room they are staying in; such furniture does not distract thoughts and attention, it is light and mobile, and the colour and form diversity is indeed boundless, and it is suitable for both office and home.

Yet, modern furniture does not obligatorily mean hi-tech, there is no need for the classics lovers to feel frustrated. Nowadays, vintage style and looks are extremely fashionable as well. Modern furniture manufacturers have never thought about giving up producing posh and elegant furniture in the style of bygone centuries. In their catalogues you’ll easily find sophisticated armchairs tempting to leisure, velvet or satin sofas decorated with noble pale roses, or chairs with their legs and backs curved into exquisite old-fashioned shapes. This furniture is always made of the finest wood of natural colours, soft fabrics, and no visible plastic, only sometimes designers tend to use beautifully forged iron details.

To my mind, rooms, equipped in classical style, give a sense of cosiness, of romance and good old days. Still, modern furniture makers pay all possible efforts to evade the drawbacks of the really old vintage furniture. You may fearlessly sit down on those sofas and no springs may bother you, and chair legs are not going to squeak and creak. Wood is treated so that it is not afraid of dampness and differences in temperature. Upholstery is usually handled with special care agents which keep the colour, resist stains and prevent the fabric from attrition.

Though classically styled furniture is more suitable for home, a luxurious leather sofa and comfortable armchairs will make a pleasing impression on your office visitors, - proved with my personal experience.

As I have already said, the main principle of creating high-quality modern furniture is thinking about people who are going to use it and their utter comfort.

It includes most elaborate ergonomic design, best raw materials and thorough processing, and, of course, all modern furniture manufacturers provide their customers with warranty terms for their products. Some companies give their customers trial periods in order to try a peculiar piece of furniture at home or in office and then to return in case of some hidden flaws or inconveniences. However, in some cases it seems absolutely unnecessary, owing to the perfect quality of the product.

Of course, I cannot omit the fact that all modern furniture is environmentally friendly, be it made of plastic and steel, or of the finest oak wood and French laces. It is not possible to make people’s homes more beautiful and convenient without taking pains and making better another big home – the world we all live in. Respectful companies use only the wood which comes from ecologically clean forests, which is necessarily certified; they organize their production process in a way that does no harm to the environment and utilise the manufacture wastage in a nature friendly way.

To recapitulate, I would say that modern furniture is presented in such diversity of styles and forms, that it is not really a hard task to find exactly what you need to feel comfortable in your home. Choose whatever you would like to see in your exquisite living room, in an airy bedroom, or in a solid office, or in a home working room. Choosing furniture, you choose the mood you are going to feel entering a certain room. You just select a style to your personal liking; and good modern furniture would provide you with comfort and inspiration day after day.
